Blackstage Pole is a groundbreaking events company dedicated to centring pole dancers of colour, particularly those with intersecting identities, including Trans, Queer, disabled, low-income, sex workers, and plus-sized individuals. As Europe’s biggest pole show, Blackstage hosts workshops, talks, and an annual professional pole show that celebrates diversity and champions equity in the industry. At the heart of Blackstage’s mission are accessibility, inclusivity, and ethical wages. We actively work to decolonise pole by reshaping how the industry engages with race, Queerness, sex work, and fair compensation. To further support performers, we conduct research into industry rates and host masterclasses on talent management, empowering dancers to avoid exploitation and write contracts that safeguard their autonomy. Additionally, we set standards to improve performer treatment, advocating for better practices across the board.
